Memory is a complex phenomenon that is concerned with many different types of information. It holds information that allows us to perform skills, as well as containing our general knowledge about the world around us.

Most importantly, from a forensic point of view, memory retains details about our own personal experiences. All the sensory organs are involved in the process of observation and memory.

The ability to recall details minutely depends upon many factors. Fear, shock and post traumatic stress affects the memory.
